From a young age I developed a strong sense of empathy for others and their struggles. I am particularly drawn to the complex and often ineffable emotions that arise from our efforts to make meaning of identity, sexuality, and our relationships to other people. While some emotions can be easily defined in language, others require a deeper existential exploration through other media. My artwork aims to express these ineffable emotions by giving them shape and space.

Through the use of multiple lines, my recent work explores the emotions that affect my own daily life. These lines serve not only as metaphors for personal emotions but also as a representation of my own story, my own narrative arc. Moreover, these lines serve to connect me to others’ stories and arcs. As I create marks on the canvas, the lines begin to form personal boundaries and spaces—and connections. The lines interweave and connect my world and my story with those of others. As I delve deeper into my personal narrative, the lines become tools for self-discovery and connection, helping me to define my own identity and to make tangible meaning of myself as an artist and person.
Overall, my artwork is a reflection of my ongoing creative journey to self-discovery and self-definition. By giving shape and space to my own emotions, I am able to make meaning of them, and to understand myself as part of a global community of others also trying to make meaning of themselves and their emotions.
